"The work centres on research the artist undertook on the history of the Convent of Mercy during her 1986 residency at Bunbury Regional Art Galleries. Focusing on the personal and collective stories gathered during the residency, this work speaks of chatter, dreams, conversations, memory and identity.
The floral patterning of the cups and saucers references home and colonialism, while the dark reflective content in the tea cups holds the history of an evolving community. The haunting sounds from the speakers reverberate, as each speaker freely rotates from its electrical wire around the space that invites a journey of remembering..." WA artist Olga Cironis, was commissioned by the City of Bunbury to create the site-specific work along with sound artist Alan Lamb, whose haunting tones fill the space from different directions as the speakers move to the wind coming from open windows.
